TIME TO CLEAR MISCONCEPTIONS
MISCONCEPTION : ARJUNA BEING THE GREATEST ARCHER WAS DEFEATED BY ORDINARY ROBBERS AND ARJUN FLED AWAY FROM THAT ROBBERS.
I WAS WONDERING AFTER READING THE COMMENTS OF BLIND KARNA FANS ABOUT THIS INCIDENT. NONE OF THEM WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH OR WANT TO ACCEPT THE TRUTH. BUT IT IS OUR DUTY TO CLEAR THIS MISCONCEPTION ABOUT OUR HERO ARJUNA.

* SECTION 1 : PROOF FROM VISHNU PURANA
NARRATIVE:
The son of Prithá, Arjuna, halted the people he had brought from Dwáraká in the Panchanada country 5, in a rich and fertile spot; but the desires of the robbers (of the neighbourhood) were excited, when they observed so many widowed females, also such great riches, in the possession of Arjuna alone. All those assembled
robbers attacked Arjun, whose powers were weakened after the death of Krishna. Thereupon Arjuna began to brace his heavenly bow Gándíva, irresistible in battle; but it was in vain; for, in spite of all his efforts to tighten it, it continued flaccid: neither could he call to recollection the incantations of the superhuman weapons. Losing all patience, he launched, as best he might, his shafts upon the enemy; but those shot from Gándíva merely scratched the skin. The arrows given him by Agni to carry certain destruction bow were themselves destroyed, and were fatal to Arjuna in his contest with herdsmen. He endeavoured to recall the might of Krishńa; animated by which, his numerous arrows had overthrown mighty kings; but he tried in vain, for now they were put aside by the peasants, or they flew at random, wide of their aim. His arrows being expended, the beat the banditti with the horn of his bow; but they only laughed at his blows: and the barbarians, in the sight of Arjuna, carried off all the women of the Vrishńi and Andhaka tribes, and went their way.
Even though Arjun was unable to use his irresistible Gandiva, he fought with the robbers. Nowhere it is mentioned that Arjun ran away from the robbers.
* REASON THAT CAUSED THE WIVES OF KRISHNA TO BE TAKEN AWAY BY THE ROBBERS
Arjun returned back to ved vyas,ashamed of getting beaten by mere robbers and unable to protect wives of Krishna,he was cursing himself. Vyas consoled Arjun and told that :
"Think no more, my son, of your disgrace: it does not become you to grieve. Know that time subjects all beings to similar vicissitude. Time effects the production and dissolution of all creatures. All that exists is founded on time. Know this, Arjuna, and retain your fortitude. Rivers, seas, mountains, the whole earth, gods, men,
animals, trees, insects, are all created, and all will be destroyed, by time. Knowing that all that is, is the effect of time, be tranquillized. These mighty
works of Krishńa, whatever they have been, have been performed to relieve earth of its burdens: for this he has come down. Earth, oppressed by her load, has had recourse to the assembly of the immortals; and Janárddana, who is one with time,
has descended on that account. This object has been now accomplished: all the kings of the earth are slain; the race of Vrishńi and Andhaka is destroyed: no more remained for him to accomplish. Therefore has the lord departed whither he pleased, his ends being all fulfilled. At the period of creation the god of gods creates; in that of duration he preserves; and at the end of all he is mighty to annihilate. Now all is done. Therefore, Arjuna, be not afflicted by thy defeat: the prowess of mortals is the gift of time. Bhíshma, Karńa, and other kings, have been slain by thee alone; this was the work of time: and why, therefore, should not thy discomfiture, by those less than thou art, occur? In like manner as through thy devotion to Vishńu these were overthrown by thee, so at last has thy defeat by miserable thieves been wrought by time. That divinity, assuming various bodies, preserves the world; and in the end the lord of creatures destroys it. In the birth of thy fortunes Janárddana was thy friend; in their decline, #thy enemies have been #favouredby #Keśava. Who would have believed that thou shouldst slay all the descendants of Kuru, and kindred of Gangá? Who would have believed that peasants should triumph over thee? Be assured, son of Pritha, that it is but the sport of the universal Hari that the Kauravas have been destroyed by thee, and that thou hast been defeated by herdsmen. With respect to the women whom thou lamentest, and
who have been carried off by the thieves, hear from me an ancient story, which will explain why this has happened.
"In former times a Brahman, named Asht́ávakra , was pursuing his religious penances, standing in water, and meditating on the eternal spirit, for many years. In onsequence of the overthrow of the Asuras, there was a great festival on the summit of Meru: on their way to which, Rambhá, Tilottamá, and hundreds and thousands of beautiful nymphs, saw the ascetic Asht́ávakra, and they praised and hymned him for his devotions. They bowed down before him, and eulogized him, as he was immersed up to his throat in water, his hair twisted in a braid. So they sang in honour of him whatever they
thought would be most agreeable to that most eminent of Brahmans.sht́ávakra at last said to them, 'I am well pleased with you, illustrious damsels; whatever you wish for, ask of me, and I will give it you, however difficult it may be of attainment.' Then all those nymphs, Rambhá, Tilottamá, and others, recorded in the Vedas,
replied, 'It is enough for us that thou art pleased; what need we aught else, enerable Brahman?' But some amongst them said, 'If, exalted sir, you are indeed pleased with us, then grant us a husband, the best of men, and sovereign of the Brahmans.' 'So be it,' replied Asht́ávakra, and thereupon came up from the waters. When the nymphs beheld him coming out of the water, and
saw that he was very ugly, and crooked in eight places, they could not restrain their merriment, but laughed aloud. The Muni was very angry, and cursed them, and said, 'Since you have been so impertinent as to laugh at my deformity, I denounce upon you this imprecation: through the grace I have shewn unto you, you shall obtain the first of males for your husband; but in consequence of my curse, you shall afterwards fall into the hands of thieves.' When the nymphs heard this uttered by the Muni, they endeavoured to appease him; and they so far succeeded, that he announced to them they should finally return to the sphere of the gods. It is in consequence, then, of the curse of the muni Asht́ávakra that these females, who were at first the wives of Keśava, have now fallen into the hands of the barbarians; and there is no occasion, Arjuna, for you to regret it in the least.
The Curse of Ashtavakra was the main reason why the wives of Krishna were taken away by the robbers. There is no fault with Arjun.
Vyasa told to Arjun : All this destruction has been effected by the lord of all; and your end is also nigh at hand, since #he has #withdrawn from you #strength, #splendour, #valour, and #preeminence.
THESE WORDS OF VYASA IS ENOUGH TO KNOW THAT ARJUN HAD NO POWER AT THAT TIME. KRISHNA TOOK ALL THE STRENGTH , VALOUR WITH HIM TO HEAVEN. EVEN THOUGH ARJUN WAS WITHOUT HIS POWERS HE NEVER FLED FROM HIS FOES LIKE KARNA WHO CAME TO BATTLEFIELDS ONLY TO FLY AWAY.

IT IS CLEARLY WRITTEN IN KMG TRANSLATION OF MAHABHARAT THAT ARJUN FOUGHT AGAINST THE ROBBERS EVEN THOUGH HE WAS WITHOUT HIS POWERS. ARJUN NEVER FLED AWAY FROM BATTLE. HE WAS BRAVE AND WAS NOT KARNA TO FLY AWAY FROM BATTLES.
NARRATIVE :
Alas, being puissant Vishnu himself, he witnessed, without interfering, the destruction of his kinsmen! My son must have himself allowed all this to happen. He was the Lord of the universe. He did #not, however, #wish to #falsify the words of Gandhari and the Rishis, O scorcher of foes. In thy very sight, O hero, thy grandson, who had been slain by Ashvatthama, was revived through his energy. That friend, however, of yours did not wish to protect his kinsmen. Beholding his sons and grandsons and brothers and friends lying dead, he said unto me these words, O chief of Bharata’s race, "The destruction of this our race has at last come. Vibhatsu will come to this city, Dwaravati. Tell him what has occurred, this great carnage of the Vrishnis. I have no doubt that as soon as he will hear of the destruction of the Yadus, that hero of mighty energy will come here without any loss of time. Know, O father, that I AM ARJUNA AND ARJUNA IS MYSELF. That should be done by thee which he would say. The son of Pandu will do what is best for the women and the children. Even he will perform thy funeral rites. This city of Dwaravati, after Arjuna’s departure, will, with its walls and edifices, be swallowed up by the ocean without any delay. As regards myself, retiring to some sacred place, I shall bide my hour, with the intelligent Rama in my company, observing strict vows all the while."
READ THE WORDS OF KRISHNA - I AM ARJUNA AND ARJUNA IS MYSELF. NARA AND NARAYANA ARE SHARING THE SAME SOUL. BEING THE INCARNATION OF NARA, ARJUN CANT EXIST WITHOUT NARAYANA. ARJUN'S DIVINE SOUL ALSO LEFT THE EARTH WITH KRISHNA TO HEAVEN.
Beholding those lordless widows escorted by Pritha’s son #alone O Bharata, the robbers felt a great temptation (for plunder). Then those sinful wretches, with hearts overwhelmed by cupidity, those Abhiras of ill omen, assembled together and held a consultation. They said, ‘Here there is only one bowman, Arjuna. The cavalcade consists of children and the old. He escorts them, transgressing us. The warriors (of the Vrishnis) are without energy.’ Then those robbers, numbering by thousands, and armed with clubs, rushed towards the procession of the Vrishnis, desirous of plunder. Urged by the perverse course of time they fell upon that vast concourse, frightening it with loud leonine shouts and desirous of slaughter.
Then Arjuna endeavoured to string his large, indestructible, celestial bow with some effort. He succeeded with great difficulty in stringing it, when the battle had become curious. He then began to think of his celestial weapons but they would not come to his mind. Beholding that furious battle, the loss of the might of his arm, and the non-appearance of his celestial weapons,Arjuna became greatly ashamed. The Vrishni warriors including the foot-soldiers, the elephant- warriors, and the car-men, failed to rescue those Vrishni women that were being snatched away by the robbers. The concourse was very large. The robbers assailed it at different points. Arjuna tried
his best to protect it, but could not succeed. In the very sightof all the warriors, many foremost of ladies were dragged away, while others went away with the robbers of their own accord. The puissant Arjuna, supported by the servants of the Vrishnis, struck the robbers with shafts sped from Gandiva. Soon, however. O king, his shafts were
exhausted. In former days his shafts had been inexhaustible. Now, however, they proved otherwise. Finding his shafts exhausted, he became deeply afflicted with grief. The son of Indra then began to strike the robbers with the horns of his bow. Those Mlecchas, however, O Janamejaya, in the very sight of Partha, retreated, taking away with them many foremost ladies of the Vrishnis and Andhakas. The puissant Dhananjaya regarded it all as the work of destiny. Filled with sorrow he breathed heavy sighs at the thought of the non-appearance of his (celestial) weapons, the loss of the might of his arms, the refusal of his bow to obey him, and the exhaustion of his shafts.
Arjun went to Vyasa and narrated all incidents. At that time Vyasa told to Arjun :
‘The mighty car-warriors of the Vrishni and the Andhaka races have all been consumed by the Brahmana’s curse. O chief of Kuru’s race, it behoveth thee not to grieve for their destruction. That which has happened had been ordained. It was the destiny of those high-souled warriors. Krishna #suffered it to take place although he was #fully#competent to #baffle it. Govinda was able to alter the very course of the universe with all its mobile and immobile creatures. What need then be said of the curse of even high-souled Brahmanas? He who used to proceed in front of thy car, armed with discus and mace, through affection for thee, was the four-armed Vasudeva, that ancient rishi. That high-souled one of expansive eyes, Krishna, having lightened the burthen of the Earth and cast off his (human) body, has attained to his own high seat. By thee
also, O foremost of men, with Bhima for thy helpmate and the twins, O mighty-armed hero, has the great work of the gods been
accomplished. O foremost one of Kuru’s race, I regard thee and thy brothers as crowned with success, for ye have accomplished the great purpose of your lives. The time has come for your departure from the world. Even this, O puissant one, is what is beneficial for you now.

THE CURSES OF GANDHARI AND BRAHMANAS CAUSED THE DESTRUCTION OF VRISHNI RACE AND THE CURSE OF ASHTAVAKRA RISHI CAUSED THE WIVES OF KRISHNA TO BE CARRIED AWAY BY ROBBERS. ARJUN WHO WAS WITHOUT HIS POWERS FOUGHT WITH THE ROBBERS TILL LAST. HE NEVER FLED FROM THE BATTLEFIELD. THERE IS NO FAULT WITH ARJUN. HE IS UNDEFEATED. THOSE KARNA FANS WHO ABUSES ARJUN FOR THIS INCIDENT, PLS GO AND READ ABHIMANYU VADHA PARVA. KARNA WAS THERE WITH HUGE ARMY , ATIRATHIS , MAHARATHIS. THEN TOO HE FLED AWAY. KARNA WAS A MASTER OF RUNNING MORE THAN A WARRIOR.
I HOPE ALL THE MISCONCEPTIONS REGARDING THIS INCIDENT IS CLEARED NOW. OUR ARJUNA WAS UNDEFEATED AND WAS THE GREATEST WARRIOR.
